BIKE TO WORK MONTH MEMPHIS EVENTS AND MAPS
ONGOING RIDES AND EVENTS
The Commute Challenge is back for 2018 to encourage employees to try different modes of transportation for their commute: walking, biking, bus, carpool-anything that's not riding alone in a car! Participants in the challenge are eligible for some pretty great prizes this year, from a Malco pass to a brand new bike.
Urban Bicycle Food Ministry
Help prepare food and ride 10 - 12 miles to distribute food to people in need. If you are riding, please bring a bag to fill with food to be distributed. Preparation of food begins at 6:30 pm and distribution begins at 8 pm. Contact Rev. Tommy Clark at First United Methodist Church in downtown Memphis (204 N. Bikesmith Pump Track
Head over to the Bikesmith (509 N Hollywood St., Memphis, TN 38112) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm and Saturdays 11 am - 5 pm to ride the track. The charge is $5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and $10 to ride all day Saturday.
Memphis Hardcourt Bike Polo - Pickup Games
Join the Memphis Hardcourt Bike Polo players for pickup games each Sunday and Wednesday evening beginning at 7:30 pm/ Teams are random and all skill levels are welcome to try one of the world's fastest growing bicycle sports. The Memphis players have all the equipment you'll need. Just bring your bike to the parking lot of Bluff City Sports (769 S. Cooper St.) and learn a new game on two wheels. Click here for details.
Revolutions Community Bicycle Co-op
Revolutions Bike Co-Op offers in-depth classes on repairing specific mechanical systems for your bike, learning to ride, and commuting by bicycle, including a Women's Bike Chat offered regularly on Sundays. . Click here for details.
South Memphis Glide Ride
Every Thursday in May at 6 PM. The slow-moving social rides roll out from the South Memphis Farmers Market (1400 Mississippi Blvd.). A limited number of bicycles can be borrowed at no cost on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each ride explores the leafy neighborhoods of South Memphis, and takes participants to the hidden jewels of the area. Check out their Facebook page.
